Going by the actual Wi-Fi access point, the study uses the firmware update to propose
the implementation and design of an IoT access point. The ZigBee wireless protocol is
used with the existing wireless access point for the development of an internet of things
access point oering WiFi wireless communications, ZigBee wireless communications,
and other capabilities for internet access.
In order to ensure that illegal users are unable to exploit the home ZigBee devices, the
paper makes use of UPnP (universal plug and play) technology. This technology applies access
restrictions for users via the LAN. For the remote and private control of home-based appliances,
users can benefit from a VPN (virtual private technology) for the creation of a private network
connection with the internet of things access point, thereby providing the required access for
the ZigBee devices. The use of UPnP technology was proposed in this paper.
