PROJECT 1: VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEM BASED ON GPS
AND GSM
Introduction and Objectives
In the old days when we used to order some food from a restaurant, we had to wait impatiently
without knowing the position of the delivery boy. However, times have changed now, food
delivery companies are using a vehicle tracking system to track their delivery boys. This helps
them to know the exact real-time location of their employees. In this project, we are also going
to build a GPS based vehicle tracking system which will be based on the ATMega16 microcon-
troller. This system will be using GPS and GSM to function.
Methods
Our project will be a much cheaper solution than using a two-way GPS communication
system where the communication part is done through only GPS satellites. Whereas, our
project will only be using a GPS device, while the two communication will be done through a
GSM modem. The GSM modem with a SIM card in the tracker will be acting just like a regular
cell phone.
