Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 integration

‎Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLSG2) is a set of capabilities dedicated to big data analytics, built on Azure Blob Storage. Using Azure Data Lake integration in Finance and Operations, customers can configure and export master and transnational incremental data to their own Data Lake in the CDM folder format. Once data has been staged in the Azure Data Lake in CDM format, you can use the Power BI dataflow feature to build interactive Power BI reports.

The following screenshot shows the user interface that's used to configure Azure Data Lake integration in Finance and Operations:

To configure Finance and Operations integration to the Data Lake, the following steps must be performed:

  1. Create a new Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 account or use an existing one. Get the storage account connection string.
  2. Create a secret in the Azure Key Vault and store the storage account's connection string.
  3. Create an Azure AD Application and generate an application secret.
  4. Using the Azure Key Vault access policy, grant access to the Azure AD application to manage the Azure Key Vault secret.
  5. Enable Data Lake integration and configure the Data Lake's details in the Data connection tab under System Administrator | Setup | System parameters in Finance and Operations.
  6. Select and enable aggregate measurement for an automatic refresh in Finance and Operations under System administration | Setup | Entity store.

Azure Data Lake integration is a big topic for analytics and Power BI integration with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. We will cover Azure Data Lake Gen 2 integration in more detail in the Chapter 10, Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Reporting
