Cloud development environment

Before you can deploy developer topology using LCS, you need to link your LCS project with an Azure DevOps profile. When you deploy dev/test topology, you can select one or more developer VMs and one build VM. In this deployment, the Developer VM is configured with workspace mapping to develop against an Azure DevOps project.

The build VM is auto-configured with the build agent/controller so that you can build modules for the Azure DevOps project and execute automated tests with an external endpoint for validation. The following screenshot shows a simple workflow for deploying DEV and building machines using LCS:

When deploying a development environment, you will have the option to choose an application/platform version. You will also choose if the environment you are deploying is a development environment or a build environment. If you have already deployed a build environment, then you don't need to deploy another build environment.

Once an environment has been deployed, it will be available 24/7, but, at the same time, you have the option to stop/start an environment when it's not in use. This way, you can stop an environment when it's not being used, so you don't have to pay for it.
