SSRS continues to be the platform for producing advanced operational and business document reports in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. The process of developing a report in the current version of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is easier as you can create and validate a reporting solution entirely in Visual Studio. In Finance and Operations, the administration of SSRS is also simplified by hosting the services on the Microsoft Azure compute service. The SSRS framework also provides document printing and distribution services for producing precision documents that are intended for email, printing, archive, and bulk distribution. If you have a requirement to change the existing reports, extending the SSRS report is not possible. The best practice is to leave the out of the box report as is and create a copy of it to modify as per your requirements as a new custom report. Menu item extensions can be used to redirect the business logic to run the custom report instead of the standard report.
