Database logging

The database log is a feature that helps in auditing. It keeps track of the changes made by users. You can enable tracking of specific actions, such as insert, delete, and update. For updates, you can turn on the monitoring for specific fields. It keeps track of who created or modified the record and when. In the case of updates, you can see the previous value and the new value.

This is typically used in areas where audit tracking is required, such as customer credit limit updates, vendor bank account updates, and many others. Standard reports are available for reviewing any changes made.

The database logging feature is powerful and valuable from a business perspective but can be expensive with regard to overall system performance when enabled for transactional tables. It is recommended to use the database logging feature only for master and reference data tables.
