Version control

Keeping track of the code is critical for good development practices. Azure DevOps (formally known as VSTS, Visual Studio Online, or VSO) is the version control system supported for Finance and Operations. Azure DevOps includes source control, work item tracking, build, release and reporting services. Azure DevOps build pipelines can be used to build releases from specific elements stored in its source control system. Visual Studio's code analysis, test tools, and code coverage elements can be used to validate a build before it is deemed fit for release.

Azure DevOps is tightly integrated with LCS and can be used throughout the life cycle of the project. For example, all requirement gaps created in the LCS BPM library can be converted into work items in Azure DevOps. The build environment also uses Azure DevOps to create a deployable package. The LCS code upgrade tool utilizes Azure DevOps integration to perform automated source code management. Post-production support tools are integrated with Azure DevOps as well, where a support request created by a user can automatically create Azure DevOps work items.
