Now, we are going to cover the key foundation-related tools for your project's implementation. These are typically one-time setup tools and the structure remains the same throughout the life cycle of the project, though the data within them can be updated/changed.

The select tools are as follows:

• (Project) methodologies: Pre-assigned from Microsoft for implementation projects. This is similar to your project plan containing a list of phases, activities, milestones, dates, and many others. You can add additional phases and activities/steps to an implementation project but cannot modify existing ones from Microsoft. For other project types, customers or partners can set up their methodology to drive their project to success.
• Project: Pre-created from Microsoft for implementation projects; for other project types, customers and partners can create their own and give them a name. Microsoft has provided an onboarding tool that helps customers and partners in a guided way to set up everything related to the foundation of your implementation project in LCS.
• Project users: To give access to users to work on an LCS project, they need to be set up as users in LCS and given appropriate access. The project owner is typically your Office 365 admin who was invited to set up D365FO service, while for other project types, it is the user who creates the project. You can add or change users using the project users tool.
• Project setting: This is one place where settings related to the project are defined. These are comprised of customer's Azure subscriptions, DevOps settings, SharePoint settings, and continuous update settings.
