Synchronizing shared notebooks

OneNote 2013 synchronizes notebooks that you share with others so that the version of the notebook on your computer or device and the version on a network, SkyDrive, or SharePoint are identical. By default, synchronizing is done automatically, behind the scenes. You can, however, synchronize a notebook whenever you want. You can also sync all notebooks manually, at a time of your choosing. At any time, you can check when OneNote last synchronized your shared notebooks.

Synchronize shared notebooks

  1. On the ribbon, click the File tab to display the Backstage view.

  2. Click the Info tab.

  3. Click View Sync Status.

Press F9 to synchronize all your notebooks at any time. Press Shift+F9 to synchronize only the notebook that is currently open.

Tip

If you prefer to synchronize your notebooks on your own, open the Shared Notebook Synchronization dialog box and choose the Sync Manually option. Then, to synchronize your notebooks, open the dialog box and click the Sync All button (or the Sync Now button for individual notebooks).
