Docking OneNote 2013 to the desktop means to shunt OneNote to the right side of the screen where it is out of the way but can still be used for taking and reading notes. For example, you might want to dock OneNote when you are taking notes from a browser window or file.
You can change the width of the OneNote screen after it is docked by dragging its left side. When docked, OneNote presents an abridged version of the ribbon with only three tabs: Home, Draw, and View. To display the ribbon, click the Ribbon button located at the top of the docked OneNote window.
On the Quick Access Toolbar in the OneNote window, click the Dock To Desktop button.
Move the pointer over the left edge of the docked window. When you see the double-headed arrow, drag to the left or right to change the size of the docked OneNote window.
To undock OneNote, in the upper-right corner, click the Normal View button.
To learn how you can take notes in a docked OneNote window and have OneNote automatically link the notes you take to a webpage, Microsoft Word document, Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, or OneNote page that is open on the screen, read ”Taking linked notes”.
