Selecting lines and shapes

Before you can move, resize, or delete a line or shape in OneNote 2013, you have to select it. You can see when you have successfully selected a shape because small white squares called handles appear on its sides and corners. You can use these handles to resize a shape. You can also move, delete, and format a selected shape.

To select a line or shape, you can click it, lasso it, or drag over it. Clicking is best to select one line or shape; lassoing or dragging works best for selecting more than one line or shape.

Select a line or shape by clicking

  1. On the ribbon, click the Draw tab.

  2. In the Tools group, click Type.

  3. Move the pointer directly over a line or shape and then click it.

Tip

You can see when lines and shapes are selected because they appear inside a box with dotted lines. In addition, handles appear at the sides and corners of the lines or shapes to show they are selected.
