OneNote 2013 offers more than two dozen tags in the Tags gallery, but if they aren’t descriptive enough to suit your needs, you can create tags of your own or modify existing tags.
When you create a tag, OneNote gives you the opportunity to choose a descriptive name for it, a symbol, and a font color or highlight color to make your tag easy to identify.
On the ribbon, click the Home tab.
In the Tags group, click the More drop-down arrow on the Tags gallery.
In the gallery, select Customize Tags.
In the New Tag dialog box, in the Display name text box, enter a name.
Choose a symbol.
Watch the preview area as you construct your tag—it shows what your tag will look like when you finish creating it.
If you want, choose a font color or highlight color.
Click OK (and click OK again in the Custom Tags dialog box).
The first nine tags in the Tags gallery are assigned the shortcut keys Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9. To assign a keyboard shortcut to a customized tag, move the customized tag to one of the first nine positions in the Tags gallery. To move a tag, in the Customize Tags dialog box, select it and click the Move Tag Up or Move Tag Down button.
