Renaming a notebook

You can rename a OneNote 2013 notebook if the original name no longer serves your purposes. Changing the name of a notebook might help you to better identify its contents and purpose.

Rename a notebook

  1. In the Notebooks pane, right-click the name of the notebook that you want to rename.

  2. On the shortcut menu that opens, click Properties.

Caution

Renaming a notebook does not rename the folder in which it is stored. Instead, the folder retains the original name of the notebook. This name retention can be confusing if you want to open a notebook in the Open Notebook dialog box, in which your notebook’s folder is listed under the notebook’s original name, not the new name you gave it.

Tip

While the Notebook Properties dialog box is open, you can choose a color for your new notebook by clicking the drop-down arrow on the Color list box and choosing a color from the list that appears. The color appears on the notebook icon next to the notebook’s name in the Notebooks pane.
