Finding tagged items

OneNote 2013 provides the Tags Summary pane for locating tagged notes and other items such as page titles and tables. After you conduct a search for tagged items, you can click an item in the search results and go directly to the tag.

When you open the Tags Summary pane, it lists all tagged items. Use this pane to narrow the scope of the search and instruct OneNote how to arrange, or group, items found in the search.

  • Group Tags By . Arrange search results in the Tags Summary pane by tag name (Tag Name), section name (Section), page title (Title), date (Date), or alphabetical order by note content (Note Text).

  • Show Only Unchecked Items . Search for tags with a check box symbol (the To Do tag, for example) to locate only items that have not been checked off.

  • Search . Limit the scope for the search to the current page group, section group, section, or notebook. You can also limit the scope to a particular time period.

Tip

Click the Refresh Results button in the Tags Summary pane when you want to update the results of the search. Update the search if you make changes to tagged items and want to get an up-to-date accounting of where the tags are.

Try This

In the Tags Summary pane, click Create Summary Page to create a new page with a copy of all tagged items found in your search. Copying the items to a new page is a convenient way to have a look at all tagged items you found.
