We've looked at how to create and assign a new role in a course, but what if we just want everyone in the community to have the ability to moderate a forum? Just as roles can be assigned in a given context, like a specific forum for instance, a role can be modified in a context. Every course and activity in Moodle can interpret the roles assigned to users in a different way. It can get a little confusing, but Moodle 2 has some new tools to help track permission changes. Let's start by assigning moderator level privileges to all of our community members in a forum. Then we'll check their permissions to make sure they are what we want.
