Creating Shared Applet Resources

Java applets are client-side Java programs designed to run in either a Web browser or a Notes client application.

Applets can be used in any of the following Domino elements:

  • Form— The applet is embedded in a form.

  • Page— The applet is embedded in a page.

  • Document— The applet is embedded in a Rich Text field in a document.

Applets are composed of one or more files, with one file that contains the main class, or the starting point for the applet. You can use Domino's shared applet feature to store all the files required for the applet in the database.

To create a shared applet resource, follow these steps:

1.
In the Designer, open the database in which you want to create a shared applet resource.

2.
Click Shared Resources, Applets in the Design Pane to see a list of all the existing applets in the database.

3.
Click the New Applet Resource button. This opens the Locate Java Applet Files dialog box.

4.
Select the files the applet is composed of and click OK.

Domino 6.x supports Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.3.
