Creating View Templates

View templates make it possible to standardize the format and layout of views when they are rendered on the Web. By embedding a view onto a form, formatting the form to conform to standards, and using the Reserved Form name $$ViewTemplateDefault, a view template is created.

As the name implies, $$ViewTemplateDefault functions as a template for all views opened from this database on the Web. Graphics, background images, static text, tables, and other design elements will remain the same; the only thing to change is the display of the different views. With this capability, company logos, standard headings, or custom navigation buttons would be incorporated in all views and maintained on one form.

If some views should be displayed with a different layout, create a Form with that view embedded on it and with the necessary layout; name the form $$ViewTemplate for ViewName. All views will display with the $$ViewTemplateDefault form unless there is an explicitly named template for the view.
