Domino provides the capability to restrict Notes client access to a Domino server's root folder or any subfolder beneath through the use of a Directory Access list.
You must have the authority to use the Administrator client to create a Directory Access list. |
You can create a Directory Access list by following these steps:
1. | Open the Domino Administrator client. |
2. | Click the Files tab. |
3. | Choose the folder you want to secure. Note that any access restrictions applied to a folder apply to all subfolders as well. |
4. | From the Tools option on the right, select Folder, Manage ACL. Alternatively, right-click the folder and choose Manage Directory ACL, which opens the dialog shown in Figure 10.4. |
5. | Click the person icon to add names of users and groups who should be able to access the folder in the Who Should Be Able to Access This Directory? field. |
6. | Click OK to save your changes. The newly secured folder should now display a lock icon to show that it has been secured. |
By default, any Notes user who can access a Domino server can access the entire hierarchy of subfolders under the root Domino folder. You should make it a practice to restrict access to the Domino server's data directory. |
