About the Contributing Author

Deborah Brown is a Certified Instructor at a Lotus Authorized Education Center in Southfield, Michigan. Deborah has worked in the computer industry for more than 15 years developing and programming applications. She has worked with numerous technologies such as COBOL, dBase, Microsoft technologies, DB2, and for the last 7 years as a Lotus Notes/Domino instructor. Deborah has obtained the following certifications: Principal CLP (Certified Lotus Professional) and CLI (Certified Lotus Instructor); Application Development and System Administration R4, R5, and ND6; IBM Certified Application Developer and System Administrator – Lotus Collaborative Solutions certificates; and she is an IBM Certified Specialist – DB2.

Deborah has authored and co-authored Lotus Certified courseware. She has also worked with AdvancedCLP as a beta tester and technical editor for their Lotus Notes/Domino practice tests. In addition, Deborah has won the Lotus Certified Instructor award twice, which is presented yearly during CLI Day at Lotussphere.

Prior to becoming a CLI, Deborah worked at Ameritech Telephone Company. She was originally a mainframe analyst working on the billing systems and yellow pages. Deborah spent the rest of her career at Ameritech in the Education department. She started as a trainer of PC software-Word, Excel, 1-2-3, Access, and other desktop applications. She won an Excellence award for creating and implementing the Fast-Track training program that consisted of combining multiple applications into one training course. Deborah designed and wrote the courseware, and setup a portable classroom that was used to deliver the training throughout the region.

Deborah is also very active in her community on the local and state level. She has worked on numerous campaigns for City Council and State Representatives. Deborah is always ready to lend a hand for environmental clean-up projects and working with various community activities.
