Sections are a design element that can be used in forms to make them more user-friendly and to provide additional security. When used, sections create a collapsible and expandable area inside the form that can contain fields, text, layout regions, and embedded objects. Additionally, a section can be defined as an access-controlled section, which restricts the ability to edit fields within the section to named users.
Remember that the Edit Access list of a section merely refines the Database Access Control List—it does not override it. In short, a user must have Editor access or higher to edit a document. |
To add an access-controlled section to a form, follow these steps:
1. | In the Designer client, open the database containing the form in which you want to add an access-controlled section. |
2. | Open the form. |
3. | Position the cursor to the location on the form where the section should appear. |
4. | Choose Create, Section, Controlled Access. |
5. | Click the Access Formula tab (the third tab) on the Form Section properties box. |
6. | Select the type of edit access you want to create: Editable, Computed, Computed for Display, or Computed when Composed. |
7. | |
8. | Save and test the form. |
