According to Lotus, a section “is a collapsible and expandable area defined on a form or subform.” Sections can contain fields, objects, layout regions, and text, and are often used to save space on a form and to prevent unauthorized users from viewing certain information within a form or subform. Sections that restrict access are known as access-controlled sections, and sections can also be digitally signed and/or encrypted. The remainder of this section discusses the security options for sections.
Access-controlled sections enable you to define users, groups, servers, and roles that can expand a section and view its contents. To create a controlled-access section, follow these steps:
1. | Open the form or subform that will contain the section. |
2. | Select the text, fields, and other elements that you want encapsulated in the section. |
3. | From the menu, choose Create, Section, Controlled Access. |
4. | Optionally, enter the section properties, such as section title, border style, border color. |
5. | To specify the editors for the section, click the Formula tab (third tab). |
6. |
Domino allows you to attach a digital signature to a section, which can be used to ensure that the contents of the section have not been tampered with. The following steps explain how to attach a signature to a section when the document is closed.
1. | Open a form containing a controlled-access section. |
2. | Add at least one sign-enabled field in the section. To sign-enable a field, select the Sign If Mailed or Saved in Section property in the Security section of the Advanced tab (third tab) of the Field Properties box. |
3. | Save the form that contains the section. |
