The P6 Transaction Phases
Each transaction initiated on the P6 FSB proceeded through the following phases from its inception to its completion (note that some transaction types do not require a data transfer and therefore do not include the Data Phase):
Arbitration Phase.
Request Phase.
Error Phase.
Snoop Phase.
Response Phase.
Data Phase.
The Pentium® 4/M Transaction Phases
The phases of a FSB transaction are identical to those on the P6 FSB with one exception: the Error Phase was eliminated.
