System Management Mode (SMM)
Starting with the advent of the 486 processor, all IA32 processors implement SMM. Refer to “System Management Mode (SMM)” on page 1463 for a complete description. It should be noted that SMM was first implemented in the 386SL processor, but it was not included in all IA32 processors until the advent of the 486DX.
