Change Text Alignment?

This is a simple but important step when laying out text in your document. A lot of times designers will just use left-aligned or centered text and ignore the other alignment options. Don’t do that! The others are just as important. Alignment can be adjusted in the Paragraph panel, Properties panel, or Control panel. Choose an alignment option before you insert your text to make it the default. If you want to change the alignment of your text, highlight the text and click on a new option. The following options are available (see image for examples, in the order listed):

• Align left
• Align center
• Align right

• Justify with last line aligned left
• Justify with last line aligned center
• Justify with last line aligned right
• Justify all lines

• Align towards spine
• Align away from spine

In the bottom row of paragraphs above, you can see that depending on where I placed the text, it automatically aligned away from or toward the spine.
