Use Extensis Tools for Font Management?

image

Extensis is an industry leading company that has been around for many years, providing professional font management (and digital asset) plug-ins. These plug-ins offer a more sophisticated method of organizing and managing the hundreds or even thousands of fonts on your system or your network, which is particularly handy if you are part of a design studio with multiple font users, for instance. They also have powerful font search functionality, and when you have a lot of fonts, this kind of tool can save hours of time and also protect you from using unlicensed fonts. Recently Extensis added a font search feature that I think is not only pretty amazing, but really useful too (see next tip). If you are anything like me, you are a digital hoarder and have hundreds of fonts. Being able to tag fonts by client name is incredibly helpful because you can then search a font and see if it is attributed to a client, or search a client and see which fonts are attributed to them—a powerful timesaver!

Check out Suitcase Fusion, a great font management system (https://www.extensis.com/suitcase-fusion-free-trial/). Just follow the instructions on the Extensis website. They offer a free trial, but the overall commercial license is around $120, which is affordable for professional font management.

Note: I’m not affiliated with Extensis. I’m just a happy customer!
