Apply a New Gradient to an Object?

image

Once you’ve made your new gradient in the previous tip, you can apply it to an object quite simply. Select your object, select Fill or Stroke (depending on where you want the gradient to be applied) in the Toolbar, and click on the gradient swatch in the Gradient panel. Want to use this gradient again? Add it to your Swatches panel by Right-clicking on the swatch in the Gradient panel and choosing Add to Swatches, or by dragging the swatch from the Gradient panel into the Swatches panel. Once it’s in the Swatches panel, you can give it a name by clicking on it once to select it, and then clicking on it again to enable the name field.

TIP: USE A KEYBOARD SHORTCUT TO APPLY A GRADIENT

We just applied a gradient to an object. Now let’s apply that same gradient to another object by selecting the new object, choosing Fill or Stroke from the Toolbar, and pressing the period (.) key. This applies the gradient currently set in the Gradient panel to the selected object.
