Create a Drop Cap?

Sometimes you want to give your text an extra little something fancy, and drop caps are a good way to do this. To begin your text with a drop cap, select and highlight the first letter of the text, and then open the Paragraph panel (Type > Paragraph). About two-thirds of the way down the panel, just above the Shading checkbox, is the Drop Cap Number of Lines menu (hover over the little icon with the vertical double-headed arrow next to an A to make sure you’ve found the correct menu). Enter the number 2 to make the letter drop down two lines. Note the number 1 in the Drop Cap One or More Characters menu to the right. This menu allows you to increase the number of characters that drop down two lines. It wouldn’t look pretty, but you could do it! Once you have applied your drop cap, you can go ahead and apply some additional styling to the letter—maybe make it Extra Bold and change the color.
