Load Styles from Another Document?

image

As I mentioned previously, I like to create documents with specific text styles, and then save those styles as actual styles in the relative styles panels. I think I win the “most uses of the word ‘styles’ in a sentence” award for this tip! Anyway, once I have saved my document with its set styles, I can borrow those styles and apply them in a new document. As an example, we’ll load some existing character styles into a new document. (Note: You can use the same steps to load any other type of styles; just use whichever panel is relevant to the style type you’re importing.) Click on the panel menu icon in the upper-right corner of the Character Styles panel and select Load Character Styles. Locate the file that contains the styles you wish to import and click OK. This opens a new dialog where you can decide which styles to import. Click on the checkbox next to each style you want to import, and then click OK. You will now see those styles in your Character Styles panel. Just repeat these steps for any other documents or to import any other styles.
