Repair a Missing Link?

image

If any of the image files that are linked to your document are moved from their original folder to a new location, the link between the document and the image is broken. When this happens, InDesign will tell you that something is wrong by displaying a red “?” icon on the offending image. If you open up the Links panel (Window > Links), the list of images in your current document will be displayed and the image with the broken link will have the same symbol. Click on the image filename to select it, and in the details panel below the list of images, you’ll see the Link Info for that image. The Status will be Missing. To relink this image, Right-click on the filename in the Links panel, choose Relink, and select the image from its new location. Another option is to find the image in its current location on your computer and move it back to its original location. This will fix the issue and InDesign will be happy again because the image is linked to its original home.
