Make Fonts for InDesign in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator?

image

Fontself is not an InDesign plug-in, but it is a cool plug-in for Photoshop and Illustrator that enables you to create your own fonts for use in InDesign. I have been using Fontself for about three years now and it just keeps getting better. When I want a specific font for a project—such as the typeface used on Photograph Like a Thief, by Glyn Dewis (Rocky Nook, 2017)—I draw it out in Illustrator and use the Fontself app to create a bespoke font that I am then able to use in InDesign. It’s great fun to make your own fonts, and it’s even better that you can use them in lots of different apps, not just the Adobe apps.
