Apply a Fill Color to a Cell?

Let’s fill some cells with color! As an example, we’ll use a very basic method to manually create a single colored cell. Highlight the cell to which you want to add color, and go to any panel where a color swatch is found. (I like to use the Swatches panel, but you can also apply color to a cell from the Control panel, Properties panel, or Toolbar.) Make sure it’s set to Fill (the little square icon), not Type (little T icon), select your color, and presto, you’ve colored a single cell. This is a really basic but quick way to apply color to a cell. Next we’ll look at how to add a colored fill to multiple and alternate cells.
