Add a New Swatch to the Swatches Panel?

image

In the Swatches panel, we are often presented with default colors, which include Black, White (paper), Red, Green, and Blue, plus standard CMYK. To add a new color to the panel, open the panel menu and select New Color Swatch. In the New Color Swatch dialog, you can play with the sliders to create your own color swatch. Use the Color Mode pop-up menu to choose whether you want to work with CMYK, RGB, or another color mode. To import additional color modes from your computer, select Other Library at the very bottom of the pop-up menu and navigate to the file(s) on your system. Give your swatch a name (see the following two tips) and click OK, and your new swatch will appear in the Swatches panel. You’ll see throughout this chapter that there are multiple ways to add colors to the Swatches panel from your document, with the Color Picker, with the Color Theme Tool (Shift-I), and more (see pages 138, 150153, 161, 162, and 164).
