Insert a Glyph?

image

Glyphs are also known as special characters. These include bullets, checkboxes, ornaments, and accented characters. It’s really simple to add a glyph to your text. Using the Type Tool (T), insert your cursor where you want the glyph to appear, and then select Type > Glyphs. This will open the Glyphs panel, which shows the glyphs available for the font you currently have selected. Click on the Show pop-up menu to find a list of sorting options, including OpenType attributes, symbols, numbers, ornaments, fractions, swashes, ligatures, and more. Search for the glyph you’d like to use and double-click on it to insert it into your text. In the example above, I chose to add a trademark symbol (™) after the words “Queen’s Park Rangers.” In the Glyphs panel, I chose Symbols from the Show menu, located the ™, and double-clicked on it. This inserted the symbol into the space, and there you have it! Any recently used glyphs are displayed at the top of the Glyphs panel. This comes in handy when you’re using the same glyph frequently.
