See the Text I’m Moving While I’m Moving It?

image

This might sound like an odd tip, but it can be useful. If you click-and-drag a text frame, the text inside vanishes until you release your mouse. If you can be patient, just click-and-hold on the text frame, and wait a second before you start to drag it. Once you do start dragging, you’ll see the text displayed as you drag, instead of an empty frame. Because InDesign is rendering the text and displaying it live as you drag, it moves a tad slower, and any effects (such as the drop shadow in this example) may appear pixelated, but that will revert once you release the frame. However, if you want to reposition text frames quickly, just click and immediately drag, and InDesign will display only the frame (and move at a quicker pace).
