Create a Custom Shape with the Pencil Tool?

image

The Pencil Tool allows you to draw freehand and creates open and closed paths. It’s great for creating a more freehand, sketch type of effect. The added benefit is that you can edit what you’ve drawn. Just select the Pencil Tool (N) and begin to draw out your shape. You will see a series of blue dots appear as you draw, and once you release your mouse, the path will take on the attributes of your stroke setting. If the shape is open-ended, there will be a point at each end as well as points along the path. If you press-and-hold the Option (PC: Alt) key after you begin drawing, the Pencil Tool cursor will display a small circle to indicate you want to create a closed path. When you are happy with your shape, release the mouse before releasing the Option key, and the two open points will be connected.
