Show or Hide Rulers and Change Measurement Units?

image

To toggle the rulers on and off, use the keyboard shortcut Command-R (PC: Ctrl-R), or go under the View menu and select Show Rulers or Hide Rulers (the option changes depending on whether the rulers are currently visible). This will reveal and hide them at the top and left side of your document. When the rulers are visible, they will take on the attributes of the original document. So if you set the document in inches, then the ruler will be in inches. To change the unit of measurement, Right-click on one of the rulers and you will be presented with a pop-up menu giving you the following options: Points, Picas, Inches, Inches Decimal, Millimeters, Centimeters, Ciceros, Agates, and Pixels. You can change between these options at any time. The zero always defaults to the top-left corner where the rulers intersect. If you want your zero to start anywhere else in the document, just click in the small square where the rulers intersect and drag the zero to the new position. In the popup menu that appears when you Right-click on a ruler you can also choose to have them set to Ruler Per Page, Ruler Per Spread, or Ruler On Spine.
